This idea just came to me. I was trying to figure out an idea that I could do with my children this year for Christmas that would encourage a more Christlike attitude. I wanted to connect it with the warm fuzzies jar idea and voila!
Here's how it works:
At dinnertime or bedtime ask your children to tell you something nice they did for someone else that day. When they do then they can glue a warm fuzzy to the Christmas tree. The goal is to fill it up before Christmas day. You can specify the ornament circles to be specific acts of service and the green fuzzies can be for any good deed. Specific acts of service could include helping a neighbor, helping a sibling, doing your chores without being asked, comforting a friend when they are sad or need help, etc. The yellow star is saved for either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day or the date you decide upon. When your family has filled the tree then you can ask each child how helping someone made them feel. Tell them that each time they were helping someone they were acting like Jesus would.
