Help #4 Meal Planning List

The final challenge this month is to create a list of recipes that you could use with different items in your pantry inventory list.  You may be thinking to yourself why this would be important?  You will see that once you have created this list it will be a preparation for our R.S. meeting on April 13th (I just had to put the plug in) to be prepared with your 3 month's supply.  Each one of the home storage challenges are stepping stones to a more organized and prepared 3 month supply. 

This week...try to be creative and think of different ways to use each item in your pantry, fridge and freezer.  See below for more details.

Pantry/Fridge/Freezer Items and Meals to create (2-3 preferably):

Fruits:
Pineapple-smoothies, Hawaiian haystacks, ingredient in whole grain muffins
Peaches-peach cobbler, topping on oatmeal, snack
Applesauce-snack, applesauce bread or cookies, topping on pancakes
Strawberries-topping for pancakes, strawberry bread, smoothies
Blueberries-topping for waffles, topping for yogurt, muffins
Raspberries-muffins, smoothies, topping for waffles
Bananas-dehydrated banana chips for snack, frozen bananas for smoothies, banana bread

Vegetables:
Green beans-side dish, green bean casserole,
Corn-side dish, salsa, taco soup
Mushrooms-chicken roll-ups, stir fry, dinner in a pumpkin
Pumpkin puree-muffins, pancakes, bread, pumpkin soup, french toast
Water chestnuts-stir fry, dinner in a pumpkin,

Grains:
Quick Oats-oatmeal, topping for cobbler or muffins, put in pancakes or cookies, granola, granola bars, crispy oatmeal, topping for muffins
Bread crumbs-breaded chicken, meatloaf,
Wheat-blender wheat pancakes, lasagna with wheat berries, wheat berry salad, bread if you have a grinder, bulgar wheat, cracked wheat
Rice-stir fry, rice and apple breakfast, stuffed green peppers, chicken curry and rice,

Cornmeal-corn muffins, tamale pie, pioneer pancakes,


Pasta:
Spaghetti noodles-spaghetti, chicken soup noodles,
Penne noodles-pasta dishes
Macaroni-macaroni and cheese, goolash, pasta salad,

Dairy:
Powdered milk-milk to drink, milk to use in baking, smoothies
Evaporated milk-use in baking, fudge,
Sour cream-topping for taco, topping for taco soup, ingredient in banana bread, ingredient in chocolate cake
Cottage cheese-use in lasagna, side dish with fruit,

Meats:
Chicken-chicken salad, chicken roll-ups, chicken quesadillas, chicken enchiladas
Tuna-tuna fish sandwiches, tuna casserole,
Salmon-salmon patties, salmon pasta, mustard rub salmon
Sausage-sausage patties, breakfast casserole,

Beans:
Black-addition to ground beef, taco soup, add to brownies as oil substitute
Kidney-sausage, beans and rice, taco soup,
White-white bean soup, add to cookies as oil substitute,
Lentils-lentil soup, lentil casserole

Cereals:
Chex cereals-cold cereal, party mix, trail mix
Cheerios-cold cereal, rice crispy-like squares, trail mix
Raisin Bran-cold cereal, bran flakes for muffins,

You get the point!  Your inventory list may be really long so do this challenge in increments or choose your main ingredients for the list.  If you are struggling to come up with 2-3 ways, try looking through your old cookbooks or online recipes for ideas.
