Preparing for General Conference with Younger Children

General Conference is right around the corner and many of us might be thinking how we can prepare best for it. Thinking ahead is a great start! I know I am always looking for fun and helpful ideas for my kids to do during conference. I hope these help! Come back in a few days (or sooner) for ideas for older children and teens!

Conference Caterpillar from Prepared Not Scared-write down each speaker's name and what they spoke on to make your Conference caterpillar.

Conference Awards from Prepared Not Scared-Choose from five different awards you can give your child for their behavior during conference. Awards include "Quiet as a Mouse," "Silent Sammy the Snake," "I didn't make a Peep during conference," "Some bunny got caught listening during conference," "When the Prophet says do it, I hop to it" and "Thank you for listening during conference and not monkeying around." These are cute awards that might encourage reverence while watching conference.

Fall Conference Coloring Activity from A Little Tipsy-color portions of this page according to topic.

Door of the Prophets from Plenty of Picnics-Print the pictures off of each apostle and slide inside a page protector. After each apostle speaks, write one word or draw one pictures that summarizes what they spoke about and tape up on the wall. (Follow the link for the printout).

Conference Guesses from Prepared Not Scared-each time the parent sees that an individual child is listening well they are given a ticket for a chance to guess how many candy pieces are in the jar. The winner wins the jar at the end. (laminate the tickets and resuse them next time).

Conference Pumpkin Search from Prepared Not Scared-During conference the listeners can write brief notes about what each speaker spoke about and at the end of the session they try to find the numbered pumpkins (which correlate with the speakers order). If the listener is able to guess who spoke about what then they earn a prize. It is to their advantage to listen carefully to earn more prizes. Follow the link for more details.

Fall Conference BINGO cards from LDS Handouts- print off multiple different cards for your children. As a subject is discussed they can place a small candy or token on the picture discussed.

Conference BINGO and File Folder Game with the Apostles from Oopsey Daisey-print off the pictures of the apostles (given on blog) and make either the BINGO cards or make a file folder game.

Book of Mormon Paper Dolls from Red Headed Hostess-print these paper dolls off and color the backgrounds, paper dolls, hair, clothing, and accessories and see what each child creates. The possibilities are endless!

Conference Pennies and Conference Store from A Mama's B's-children listen for key words during conference to earn pennies. After each session they can count their pennies and then "purchase" items from the store.
